Session Two by Miss Sass

soreOh the pain!!!

I have to say the day after my first session was Darren was hard! I was stiff and sore all over especially my upper legs. I woke up really early to go to the bathroom and had a hard time sitting down on the toilet. But worse, I couldn’t get up! It hurt so much I had to grab the edge of the counter to help me up. I wanted to call in sick to work that day. But I went it. It was tough to work when I was soooooooo sore.

The next day was worse. I’m not going to sugar coat this. It was horrific tightness in my upper and lower legs. I know I haven’t been to the gym in years however, I didn’t expect this kind of pain. Yikes! I found stretching really helped. I stretched my legs a lot. All through my work day and when I got home. And my heating pad was my best friend. I have to say though, every time I reached for food or a snack that pain reminded me to be careful. I made better food choices. And no junk food. Yay!

quitWell, it’s Saturday. It’s 6:00am and I really don’t want to go back. I’m worried this pain will get worse. I worried I won’t be able to do the workout. I’m worried I will disappoint Darren. I’m NOT weak but I do feel I’m not going to do well. I reluctantly got up and got ready. Dee was ready to go. We got there and well quite frankly I didn’t have the best attitude. I was really unsure about this. Darren sat and talked to us. He explained what our plan looked like. He told us we were going to do this and we were going to be fine. I trusted him. We got started.

Boxing, arm pull down thing, leg push, leg press, lunges and finally the bench press. I thought to myself holy f*** I did it! Darren was right. Once we warmed up our muscles it did make it easier. The fact that Darren was so confident that we could do this encouraged me. I really didn’t think I could.

We made our goals and did our weigh in. It’s funny I don’t believe in myself however Darren and Dee believe in me. Maybe this will work. I’m really hoping the pain won’t be as bad as last time.

Darren told me things will be better next week. I trust him. He has been right so far.

I hope I make it to my next training session because I have a strange feeling that I may begin to like this. But shhhhhh……. Don’t tell anyone!!!! It’s still a secret.

**Update from Session Two Evening

Well I have great news! I haven’t been able to sit crossed legged in probably a year. I have hip bursitis and a bad knee. It’s a bad combo. But today I actually sat crossed legged for quite a while! It felt great. I can’t explain how this little accomplishment of mine has lit the spark inside of me. This was actually already making a difference. Thank you Darren I can sit cross legged again! Woo hoo!!!
